McDonald’s Meal Deal Extension: What It Means for Your Wallet

Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks.

According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, most U.S.-based McDonald’s franchises have chosen to continue the promotion, which originally started on June 25 for a four-week duration.

The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the country, although the specific length of the promotion may vary by restaurant. Some franchises have even chosen to maintain this deal until August.

As consumers face high food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle is proving successful for the company.

Analytics firm Placer.ai recently reported a noticeable increase in foot traffic at McDonald’s restaurants following the rollout of this meal deal, suggesting that it is appealing to customers.

This promotional success has caught the attention of other fast casual dining chains, leading many to introduce their own special offers. For instance, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced earlier this month a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King indicated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would surpass the lifespan of McDonald’s promotion. They also mentioned plans to introduce new items under their “Fiery Menu.” Similarly, Wendy’s has joined the trend by offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
