Fast food leader McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States have opted to continue this promotion beyond the initial four-week timeframe that began on June 25.
The meal bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some franchises choosing to extend it until August.
As consumers face higher food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, McDonald’s meal deal is proving to be beneficial for the company. A recent analysis by Placer.ai revealed that McDonald’s experienced a significant increase in foot traffic shortly after launching the $5 meal deal, indicating that it is appealing to customers.
The successful promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own offers. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced it would roll out a $7 Luxe Cravings Box temporarily, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available longer than McDonald’s promotion and introduced new items within its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle, in addition to a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
