McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will be available for a few additional weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have decided to continue the promotion, which initially began on June 25, for a period beyond the original four weeks.
The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the exact duration may vary by location, with some extending the offer until August.
This decision comes at a time when consumers are struggling with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The McDonald’s bundle has proven successful, as indicated by a recent report from foot traffic analysis company Placer.ai, which noted an increase in customers visiting McDonald’s locations following the launch of the deal.
Other fast casual dining establishments are reacting to this competitive pricing strategy. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has added a permanent $1.99 value menu. In June, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box along with its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In a similar vein, Burger King has extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle beyond the duration of McDonald’s offer and has also introduced additional items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the promotional fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo named the “Biggie Bag.”
