McDonald’s Meal Deal Extended: What’s the Secret Behind Its Success?

McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. A significant number of McDonald’s locations across the U.S. have chosen to continue the promotion, which started on June 25, beyond its initial four-week period.

The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some restaurants planning to keep it until August.

As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s deal has proven beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analysis from Placer.ai indicates a notable increase in customers visiting McDonald’s locations after the introduction of the meal bundle, suggesting that it has struck a chord with patrons.

Other fast casual dining brands have responded to McDonald’s success by rolling out their own promotional offers. For example, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, and Sonic has established a permanent value menu at $1.99. In June, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than the McDonald’s promotion and introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
