McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, following a successful launch that began on June 25. According to a memo from the fast-food chain, the majority of its U.S. locations have opted to continue the promotion beyond its initial four-week period. The deal will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the duration may vary by location, with some extending the offer through August.
This promotion comes at a time when many consumers are facing higher food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining segment. The $5 meal deal has proven to be beneficial for McDonald’s, as recent analysis from foot traffic firm Placer.ai showed a notable increase in customers visiting their restaurants shortly after the deal was introduced.
The success of McDonald’s meal bundle has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, while Sonic introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King plans to extend its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond the original McDonald’s promotion, while also introducing new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and has rolled out a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
