McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo cited by Bloomberg. A majority of the chain’s U.S. locations agreed to continue the promotion that initially launched on June 25.

The meal bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some franchises extending it until August.

As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai revealed a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion began, indicating its popularity among patrons.

The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining establishments to respond with their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Furthermore, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Earlier this year, Burger King extended its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle beyond McDonald’s offering and introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has joined the discount trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
