Fast food leader McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have opted to continue the promotion, which initially started on June 25 and was meant to last four weeks.

The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of the chain’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.

As consumers face rising food costs, particularly in fast-casual dining, this bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. A report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that after the launch of the promotion, the chain experienced a significant increase in customer visits, demonstrating its appeal to shoppers.

This move has prompted other fast-casual chains to enhance their own offers in response. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic is now providing a permanent $1.99 value menu. In June, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Earlier in May, Burger King revealed that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s deal, and announced new offerings within its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
