Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations across the United States have opted to continue the promotion which first began on June 25.

The meal bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of the chain’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may vary by location. Some outlets are set to keep the deal until August.

With consumers facing high food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customers visiting McDonald’s restaurants shortly after the bundle was introduced, highlighting its appeal to diners.

This promotion has sparked competition among other fast casual dining chains, prompting them to introduce their own deals. For example, Arby’s has initiated a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box limited offering, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Furthermore, in late May, Burger King extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond the initial time frame of McDonald’s offering. Earlier that month, Burger King also introduced new items as part of their “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and has since rolled out a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
