McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks to accommodate consumers facing high food prices. According to a memo, most locations in the U.S. will continue offering the promotion, which was initially set to run for four weeks starting June 25.

The meal deal will be available at around 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, though the specific duration may differ by location, with some extending it until August.

This extension comes as many consumers are looking for affordable dining options, and the meal deal has already shown positive results for McDonald’s. Data from Placer.ai indicates an increase in foot traffic at McDonald’s restaurants following the launch of the deal, suggesting it has struck a chord with customers.

The promotion has also prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own special offers. Arby’s introduced a $9 meal deal, while Sonic added a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell is running a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.

Burger King has stated its $5 “Your Way Meal” will remain available longer than McDonald’s deal, and they plan to introduce new items as part of their “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
