McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will be extended for several more weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, a majority of U.S. locations have agreed to prolong the promotion, which initially started on June 25.

The meal deal will remain available in approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some franchises opting to continue the deal through August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, the bundle has proven to be beneficial for McDonald’s. A recent analysis by foot traffic firm Placer.ai revealed that the chain experienced a noticeable increase in customer visits shortly after introducing the deal, indicating its appeal among customers.

In response to McDonald’s success, other fast casual dining brands are stepping up their promotions to compete. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has added a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box along with its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Burger King has also joined the fray, stating that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will be available longer than McDonald’s offering, and recently expanded its menu with new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the price competition, with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
