McDonald’s, the prominent fast food company, has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo released by the chain and reported by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States have opted to prolong the promotion beyond its initial four-week period, which began on June 25.
The meal bundle will remain available in approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, though the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some extending the deal until August.
This move comes at a time when many consumers are facing higher food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, making the McDonald’s bundle an appealing option.
A recent study by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations following the promotion’s launch, demonstrating its popularity among consumers.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining establishments to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced plans to offer a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s deal. The company has also introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Similarly, Wendy’s has joined the fray by offering a $3 breakfast bundle and has launched a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
