Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal promotion for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to continue the promotion beyond its initial four-week period, which began on June 25.
This special offer will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the exact duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.
As consumers face rising food costs, especially in the fast-casual dining segment, the McDonald’s bundle has proven to be a successful strategy for the company. Recently, the foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in visits to McDonald’s after the promotion was introduced, indicating strong consumer interest.
In response to the competitive landscape sparked by McDonald’s deal, other fast-casual restaurants are launching their own promotions. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent value menu priced at $1.99. Taco Bell has joined the fray by offering a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would run longer than McDonald’s promotion and introduced new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has entered the bargain competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
