Fast food chain McDonald’s will continue its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, the majority of U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to extend the promotion, which originally began on June 25.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the $5 meal deal appears to be benefiting McDonald’s. Analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in foot traffic at McDonald’s locations shortly after the promotion was launched, indicating strong consumer interest.
This move has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and a Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offering, also announcing the introduction of new items in its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the competitive landscape, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
