McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several additional weeks.
According to Bloomberg, based on a memo from the fast food chain, most McDonald’s locations across the United States have agreed to continue the promotion that originally started on June 25. The meal deal will remain available at approximately 93% of outlets nationwide, although the duration may vary by location, with some extending the offer until August.
This move comes as consumers continue to grapple with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, making McDonald’s promotion especially appealing.
Foot traffic analysis from Placer.ai revealed that following the launch of the bundle, McDonald’s experienced a significant increase in customers, indicating that the deal is resonating with diners.
The popularity of this promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond competitively. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal deal, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Previously, Burger King stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s offer, also introducing new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
