McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, as indicated by a memo from the fast-food chain. According to reports, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States will continue to offer this promotion beyond its initial four-week launch period, which began on June 25.

The $5 meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the promotion’s duration may vary by location, with some opting to extend it until August.

This move comes at a time when consumers are facing higher food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, making the McDonald’s deal a timely option for budget-conscious diners.

Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of the $5 meal deal has resulted in a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants, demonstrating the promotion’s appeal.

The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast-casual chains to respond with their own deals. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Burger King previously indicated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available longer than McDonald’s deal, while also rolling out new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has jumped into the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and has introduced a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
