Fast food giant McDonald’s has announced that it will extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations across the United States have agreed to continue the promotion beyond its initial four-week period, which started on June 25.
The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some franchises choosing to extend it through August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven to be profitable for the company. Data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicates that the promotion significantly increased customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants shortly after its launch, suggesting it has struck a chord with consumers.
The success of this deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box and continues to offer its $5 Taco Discovery Box along with a Cravings Value Menu.
Earlier in the summer, Burger King stated that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would remain available longer than McDonald’s promotion, alongside new items added to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the discount trend, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
