McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a report citing a memo from the fast food chain. This promotion, which started on June 25, will remain available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the United States, although the duration may differ by restaurant, with some choosing to continue the deal until August.
The decision comes as consumers are facing rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. Analysts have noted that the $5 bundle has positively impacted McDonald’s, with data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai revealing a significant increase in customers visiting the restaurants following the launch of the promotion.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining establishments to respond with their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also joined the trend with a $7 Luxe Cravings Box and a $5 Taco Discovery Box, in addition to its Cravings Value Menu.
Meanwhile, Burger King announced that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will be available longer than McDonald’s offering, and it has also introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also participated in the price-cutting strategy, launching a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
