Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks.
According to a memo from the company, most McDonald’s locations across the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion, which initially started on June 25 for four weeks. The meal deal will remain available at nearly 93% of restaurants nationwide, with some locations opting to extend it until August.
As consumers face higher food costs, particularly at fast casual dining establishments, the McDonald’s bundle has proven effective for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits after the promotion was introduced, indicating strong consumer interest.
This deal has also prompted a competitive response from other fast casual dining chains. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Earlier in May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available longer than McDonald’s offer and announced new additions to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and its $5 “Biggie Bag” combo.
