McDonald’s has announced an extension of its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion, which initially began on June 25 and was originally set for four weeks.

The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s outlets throughout the country, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.

As consumers face high food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analysis from Placer.ai reveals that following the introduction of the meal deal, McDonald’s restaurants experienced a significant increase in customer visits, indicating that the promotion is appealing to patrons.

The success of this deal has prompted other fast-casual restaurants to respond with their own offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has initiated a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also jumped into the competition, announcing a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Burger King previously indicated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s offering, and it has also introduced new items in its “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s is competing with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
