McDonald’s has announced that it will be extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to Bloomberg, which referenced an internal memo from the fast-food chain, the majority of McDonald’s locations across the U.S. have chosen to prolong the promotion, originally launched on June 25.
The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may differ based on location. Some franchises are opting to keep the deal available until August.
Amid rising food prices and financial constraints for many consumers, McDonald’s value bundle is proving beneficial for the company. A report from foot traffic analysis firm Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of this deal has significantly increased customer visits to McDonald’s locations, suggesting that it is appealing to consumers.
The success of this promotion has prompted other fast-casual dining establishments to respond with their own value offerings. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell is offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Previously, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s promotion, and the chain is also introducing new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the value meal trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and is offering a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
