Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several additional weeks.
According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to continue the promotion beyond its initial four-week launch, which began on June 25. The deal will remain available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some extending it until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, McDonald’s promotional bundle has proven effective for the company. Foot traffic data firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants soon after the promotion was introduced, indicating a positive response from patrons.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining establishments to react, with many launching their own value propositions. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited period, along with its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s offering. The chain also announced new menu items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Similarly, Wendy’s has launched a $3 breakfast bundle and introduced a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
