McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. agreed to keep the promotion going beyond its initial four-week launch, which started on June 25.
The deal will remain available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the specific duration may vary by location, with some franchises opting to extend the promotion until August.
As consumers continue to face high food prices, especially in the fast-casual dining sector, the McDonald’s meal bundle is proving beneficial for the company. A recent report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai highlighted a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s following the promotion’s rollout, indicating strong consumer interest.
In response to McDonald’s success, other fast-casual chains are entering the competitive landscape with their own deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also joined the fray with a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box and its $5 Taco Discovery Box, along with its Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King, not to be outdone, announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s deal, while also introducing new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s launched a $3 breakfast bundle and has since added a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
