McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks as part of a successful promotion that began on June 25. According to a memo from the fast-food chain reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue the offering beyond the initial four-week period.
The $5 bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the exact duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.
This move comes as consumers, facing rising food prices, are increasingly looking for budget-friendly dining options. The meal deal has reportedly resulted in a significant increase in foot traffic at McDonald’s locations, as shown by data from analytics firm Placer.ai, indicating that the promotion is appealing to customers.
Other fast casual dining chains are taking notice of McDonald’s success. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Furthermore, Burger King has stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” will be available for a longer period than McDonald’s deal, alongside new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also participated in the competitive landscape, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
