McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo from the fast food chain, most of its U.S. locations have agreed to continue the promotion, which initially began on June 25.

The meal bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, though the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some extending it until August. This decision comes as consumers are facing higher food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, making the McDonald’s offer appealing.

Recent analysis from foot traffic tracking firm Placer.ai highlighted a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants following the rollout of this deal, indicating its positive reception among consumers.

The popularity of McDonald’s promotion has prompted competing fast casual dining chains to respond with their own deals. For instance, Arby’s is offering a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its ongoing $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.

Furthermore, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will remain available for a longer period than McDonald’s, and it recently expanded its menu with new items in its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also introduced a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag” in response to the competitive fast food environment.
