McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will continue for a few more weeks, responding to strong customer demand. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have opted to extend the promotion beyond its initial four-week period, which started on June 25.
The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the specific duration of the promotion may differ by location. Some franchises have chosen to extend the deal until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, especially in the fast-casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. A report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that following the rollout of the meal deal, McDonald’s experienced a significant increase in foot traffic at its outlets, signaling that the promotion is resonating well with customers.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast-casual chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box and continues to offer its $5 Taco Discovery Box alongside a Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would remain available longer than McDonald’s offer, with plans to add new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the competitive landscape, presenting a $3 breakfast bundle and introducing a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
