McDonald’s, the fast food leader, has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will be extended for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations across the United States have opted to continue this promotion, which initially launched on June 25 for a four-week period.

The $5 meal deal is now available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ depending on the location. Some outlets have chosen to extend the deal until August, catering to consumers facing higher food prices during a challenging economic time.

Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported that following the introduction of the $5 bundle, McDonald’s saw a notable increase in customer visits, indicating that the deal has struck a chord with patrons.

This attractive pricing strategy has prompted rival fast casual dining chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, and Sonic introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. In June, Taco Bell rolled out a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Meanwhile, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available longer than McDonald’s offer and mentioned plans to enhance its “Fiery Menu” with new items. Wendy’s is also participating in the discount race, featuring a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
