McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. The promotion, which originally started on June 25, will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the United States, though the duration of the offer may vary by restaurant, with some extending it into August.
This extension comes at a time when consumers are facing higher food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, making the McDonald’s bundle appealing for budget-conscious diners.
Recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicates that after introducing the meal deal, McDonald’s experienced a significant increase in customer visits, suggesting that the promotional offering is positively impacting sales and attracting customers.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast-casual chains to respond with their own deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King disclosed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s deal, and also introduced new items on its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the deal frenzy with a $3 breakfast bundle and has rolled out a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
