Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a report by Bloomberg, which references a memo from the company, a significant number of McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to continue this promotion beyond its original four-week duration that began on June 25.

The $5 meal deal will remain available in about 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some franchises extending it until August.

As consumers face rising food prices in the fast casual dining sector, this meal deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. A recent analysis by Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of the bundle led to a marked increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants, highlighting its appeal among diners.

The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining establishments to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s, for example, has rolled out a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent value menu priced at $1.99. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would last longer than McDonald’s promotion, and it also introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
