Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few additional weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion, which initially began on June 25.

The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, though the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some outlets extending it until August.

As food prices remain high and consumers feel the financial pinch, the $5 meal promotion is proving to be advantageous for McDonald’s. Recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai showed a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants shortly after the deal was introduced, suggesting it has struck a chord with diners.

The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to step up their game with competitive offers. Notably, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has unveiled a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has announced the launch of its $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and a Cravings Value Menu.

In addition, Burger King has extended the availability of its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond McDonald’s promotional period, with plans to introduce new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the fray, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
