Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo from the company, most of McDonald’s U.S. locations will continue to offer this promotion, which originally launched on June 25 for a duration of four weeks.

The meal bundle will remain available in approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, though the length of the offer may vary by location, with some franchises choosing to extend it until August.

This decision comes as consumers continue to face high food prices, particularly within the fast casual dining sector. The success of the McDonald’s deal has been evident; recent data from foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai revealed a notable increase in customer visits following the rollout of the bundle, indicating its popularity among diners.

The competitive landscape has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own value offerings. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Earlier in May, Burger King had stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would outlast McDonald’s promotion. The chain is also adding new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
