McDonald’s will continue its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, extending the promotion beyond its initial four-week period that started on June 25. According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations across the U.S. have agreed to keep the deal, which will be available in approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide. However, the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some opting to extend it until August.
As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly for fast-casual dining, the McDonald’s deal has proven effective in attracting customers. Recent analysis from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants following the launch of the bundle, highlighting its appeal.
The success of McDonald’s has prompted other fast-casual chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic is now offering a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King announced that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a more extended period than McDonald’s offering. The chain has also introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s has launched a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
