McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will be available for a few additional weeks. According to a memo, the majority of U.S. locations agreed to extend the promotion beyond its initial four-week timeframe, which began on June 25.
The deal will be available at about 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the nation, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.
As consumers grapple with rising food prices, especially in the fast-casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company.
Foot traffic analysis from Placer.ai indicated that following the launch of the promotion, McDonald’s experienced a considerable increase in customer visits, highlighting the appeal of the deal among consumers.
The success of this promotion has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with competitive offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also entered the fray with a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King announced that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would extend beyond the McDonald’s offer, and the chain is also adding new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has introduced a $3 breakfast bundle along with a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
