McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for a few more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion, which initially began on June 25 and was meant to last four weeks.
This meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, with the duration of the offer varying by location. Some locations have chosen to keep the deal running through August.
As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, McDonald’s meal deal has proven to be a success. Foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai noted that there was a significant increase in visitors to McDonald’s restaurants following the introduction of the bundle, indicating that it has struck a chord with customers.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual dining brands to respond with their own deals. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside a $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King, in late May, stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s deal, and it also plans to add new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle, as well as a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
