McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few additional weeks, according to a memo from the fast-food giant. A majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. agreed to continue the promotion, which originally launched on June 25.
The offering will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, though the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, McDonald’s promotion has proven advantageous for the company. A recent analysis by Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s following the introduction of the meal deal, indicating that it is appealing to diners.
This move has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own deals. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, and Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box as well as its Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King has extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” and introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
