Fast food leader McDonald’s has announced the continuation of its $5 meal deal for an extended period. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to keep the promotion active beyond its original four-week duration, which started on June 25.
This meal bundle will now be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the specific length of the promotion will vary by location. Some outlets have decided to extend the deal through August.
With many consumers facing rising food prices, particularly in casual dining, the McDonald’s meal offer has proven beneficial for the company.
Data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai revealed that there was a notable increase in customer visits shortly after the launch of the meal deal, indicating strong consumer interest.
The success of this promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to roll out their own competitive offers. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has added a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced the availability of a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Furthermore, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s deal, in addition to plans for new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the deal fray with its $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
