McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for a few additional weeks, as revealed in a memo from the fast food giant. The promotion, which originally began on June 25, has been embraced by most of the U.S.-based restaurants, with reports indicating that approximately 93% of locations will continue to offer the bundle. Specific timing for the continuation of the offer may vary by location, with some McDonald’s extending the deal through August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the $5 meal deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. According to foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai, there has been a noticeable increase in customers visiting McDonald’s restaurants since the launch of the promotion, indicating that the deal is appealing to consumers.
The success of the McDonald’s bundle has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own competitive offers. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King has also chimed in on the discount trend, extending its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond the original timeframe of McDonald’s offering, coupled with new items on its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
