McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to prolong the promotion, which first launched on June 25 for an initial four-week period.

The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some stores extending the offer until August.

Amid rising food prices that are impacting consumers, especially in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the introduction of the deal, indicating strong consumer interest.

This promotion has sparked a competitive response from other fast casual dining chains. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. In June, Taco Bell introduced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and a Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, in late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than the McDonald’s deal, and earlier that month, the chain unveiled new items for its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 option called the “Biggie Bag.”
