Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks.
According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, a significant number of McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to prolong the promotion, which originally started on June 25 for a four-week period.
The bundle will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the nation, although its duration may differ by location, with some franchises opting to keep the deal running until August.
This extension comes at a time when consumers are feeling the pinch from rising food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector, making McDonald’s offer particularly appealing.
Foot traffic analysis by Placer.ai indicated that following the introduction of the meal deal, McDonald’s experienced a noticeable increase in visitors, highlighting its popularity among customers.
The successful promotion has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own value deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic now features a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Earlier this spring, Burger King declared that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offering, while also introducing new items in its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and has rolled out a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
