McDonald’s Extends $5 Meal Deal: What to Expect Next?

McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. This promotion, which originally started on June 25, has received approval from most U.S. locations to continue beyond its initial four-week period.

The meal deal will still be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the nation, though the duration of the promotion may differ depending on the location, with some extending the offer until August.

This decision comes as consumers are facing rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, making the McDonald’s bundle increasingly appealing. A recent analysis by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that following the introduction of the meal deal, there was a significant increase in visits to McDonald’s restaurants, highlighting its popularity among customers.

The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual chains to introduce their own deals. For instance, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, and Sonic has initiated a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently introduced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In response to the competitive landscape, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will be available longer than McDonald’s offering. Furthermore, it has introduced new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s also joined the fray, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
