McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion beyond its initial four-week duration, which started on June 25.

This meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, though the promotion’s length may differ by location, with some extending it into August.

As consumers face rising food costs, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, McDonald’s promotion has proven successful. A recent analysis by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that the chain experienced a significant increase in customer visits following the launch of the $5 deal, suggesting that it resonated well with diners.

The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual restaurants to introduce their own promotions. Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available for a longer period than McDonald’s offering, and earlier that month, it introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also participated in the competition by offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
