McDonald’s, the fast food giant, has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most U.S. McDonald’s locations have agreed to continue the promotion, which originally started on June 25.

The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of the chain’s restaurants across the country, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some continuing the deal until August.

This decision comes at a time when consumers are facing higher food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, making McDonald’s affordable offering appealing. A recent report from foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai indicated that the launch of the bundle led to a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations, highlighting the promotion’s effectiveness.

The success of McDonald’s meal deal has prompted competing fast casual chains to introduce their own promotions. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also joined the fray, announcing a $7 Luxe Cravings Box along with its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, Burger King has extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” to outlast the McDonald’s offer and is planning to introduce new items in its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has launched a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag” in response to the competitive landscape.
