McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, responding to the needs of budget-conscious consumers. This extension follows the successful launch of the promotion, which began on June 25 and was intended to run for four weeks.

According to information from Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. will continue to offer the meal deal, which will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country. However, the duration of the promotion may vary depending on the specific location, with some restaurants choosing to extend the offer until August.

The decision to maintain the $5 meal deal comes at a time when many consumers are feeling the pinch from rising food prices, particularly within the fast-casual dining sector. McDonald’s has seen a noticeable increase in foot traffic since the promotion started, as reported by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai, indicating that the deal has resonated well with customers.

In response to McDonald’s successful strategy, competitors in the fast-food industry are also rolling out their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has responded with a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu. Additionally, Burger King has committed to maintaining its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle longer than McDonald’s offering and has introduced new items as part of its promotional “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has similarly launched a $3 breakfast bundle and its own $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”

Overall, the competitive atmosphere in the fast-food market shows a growing focus on value-oriented promotions, which not only benefit consumers looking for affordable meal options but also push companies to innovate and enhance their offerings. This situation reflects the industry’s adaptability in responding to changing economic conditions and consumer preferences, highlighting a trend toward value-driven dining experiences in a tough economic landscape.
