McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, as reported by Bloomberg. A majority of its U.S. locations have agreed to continue the promotion, which initially launched on June 25, beyond the original four-week period.
The meal bundle will remain available in approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some franchises choosing to keep the deal until August.
This promotion comes at a time when many consumers are facing financial strain due to rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining. The $5 bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s, evidenced by a significant increase in foot traffic following the launch of the deal, according to foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai.
McDonald’s competitors in the fast casual sector have taken notice, launching their own deals to attract customers. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, and Sonic has added a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box along with its ongoing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Meanwhile, Burger King is extending its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond McDonald’s offering, and it recently announced new menu items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined in on the promotions, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
