McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few additional weeks, as reported by Bloomberg, referencing a memo from the fast-food chain. Most U.S. locations are participating in this extension, following the initial launch on June 25.
Approximately 93% of McDonald’s outlets are continuing to offer the bundle, although the promotion’s duration may vary by location, with some chains opting to maintain the deal until August.
The decision to prolong the promotion comes at a time when consumers are facing high food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. McDonald’s has reported increased foot traffic to its restaurants since introducing the deal, indicating it is appealing to budget-conscious customers.
As a response to McDonald’s successful promotion, other fast casual dining chains are also entering the fray with their own value deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, and Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has recently offered a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and a Cravings Value Menu.
Moreover, Burger King announced it would extend its own $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond the original timeframe set for the McDonald’s deal. Additionally, Burger King is introducing new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has launched a $3 breakfast bundle and also offers a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
