McDonald’s, the fast food leader, is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several additional weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. agreed to keep the promotion available beyond its original four-week period that began on June 25.

This deal will be accessible at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration may differ by location, with some franchises opting to continue the offer until August.

As consumers face rising food costs, particularly in the fast casual sector, McDonald’s $5 meal bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai observed a notable increase in customer visits following the launch of the promotion, indicating strong consumer response.

The success of this deal has prompted rival fast casual chains to introduce their own promotions. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, Burger King has extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond McDonald’s offer and is introducing new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the price-cutting competition, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and has also introduced a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
