McDonald’s Extends $5 Meal Deal: What It Means for Fast Food Lovers

McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memorandum reported by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations across the U.S. have agreed to keep the promotion active beyond its original four-week launch period, which began on June 25.

The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location. Some franchises are extending the offer until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Recent data from foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai indicates that the introduction of this deal has significantly increased customer visits to McDonald’s locations.

The successful promotion has also prompted competitive responses from other fast casual chains. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell launched a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box and a $5 Taco Discovery Box, along with its Cravings Value Menu.

Burger King announced in late May that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be extended beyond McDonald’s offering and introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and has begun promoting a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
