McDonald’s Extends $5 Meal Deal: What It Means for Fast Food Lovers

McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo cited by Bloomberg. The promotion, which first launched on June 25, will be available in about 93% of U.S. locations, although the duration may vary by restaurant, with some choosing to continue the deal until August.

Amid rising food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, this offering has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. A recent analysis by the foot traffic tracking company Placer.ai revealed a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations shortly after the promotion began, indicating its appeal to consumers.

This move has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own value-oriented promotions. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time offer of a $7 Luxe Cravings Box and also has its $5 Taco Discovery Box along with a Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, Burger King has indicated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will remain available longer than McDonald’s promotion, while also rolling out new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s is participating in the trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and a new $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
