McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo cited by Bloomberg. Most McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to keep the promotion going beyond its initial four-week period that started on June 25.
The meal deal will continue to be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the exact duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some franchises planning to extend the offer until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this bundle is proving beneficial for the company. A recent study from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai revealed a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the meal deal was introduced, highlighting its appeal among consumers.
The success of McDonald’s deal has put pressure on other fast casual dining establishments, prompting many of them to introduce their own promotions. Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, and Sonic has added a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s offering, along with new menu items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
