McDonald’s Extends $5 Meal Deal: What It Means for Fast Food Fans

Fast food leader McDonald’s has announced that it will extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, most U.S.-based McDonald’s franchises have agreed to keep the promotion active beyond its initial four-week launch period, which began on June 25.

This meal deal will continue to be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some franchises extending the offer until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. A report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in patrons visiting McDonald’s locations shortly after the promotion began, indicating that the deal is attracting customers.

The success of this promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King declared that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available longer than McDonald’s offering and revealed plans to introduce new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and has started offering a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
