McDonald’s Extends $5 Meal Deal: What It Means for Fast Food Fans

McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks across many of its U.S. locations. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, the promotion, which initially kicked off on June 25 and was set for a four-week duration, will now be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants. However, the length of the promotion may differ by location, with some franchises choosing to continue the offer through August.

This move comes as consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The McDonald’s bundle is proving beneficial for the company, as recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion was launched.

The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted competitors to respond with their own offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Earlier in May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offer, and it has been refreshing its menu with new items under its “Fiery Menu” theme. Additionally, Wendy’s has joined the deal frenzy by providing a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
